Topping Out at the Utah County Jail
Recently, at the Utah County Jail Security Center Patrol Expansion, our Superintendent, Blaine Curtis, joined with members of the Sheriff’s Office to celebrate the topping out of their project. A topping out signifies that the building’s final structural beam has been placed and has therefore reached its highest point.
Blaine had each member of the Sheriff’s Office in attendance sign the beam before it was placed. In future years, if they ever choose to expand or demo the building and the beam is exposed, it will show who was involved with the building’s 2026 expansion.
Now that the expansion’s structure is complete, the next steps are to frame the exterior, install drywall, and install windows before demolishing the current building and tying the expansion into the main structure. The project is on track to be completed in Spring 2027.
"[The owners] have been really great to work with and we’ve got a really great relationship with them. We don’t only know them on a business level, but we’ve also gotten to know them on a personal level, and that has helped make working with them even better.”
