People: Growing Into Their Roles

Hogan’s core values are: Build, Trust, People, and Care. We couldn’t do the work we do without the people on our team, and one way we promote that value is through internal hiring and promoting people who have done great work for Hogan. Three people who have held several positions within Hogan are Mone Fatongia, Carlos Landaverde, and Jake Halverson.

Filimone “Mone” Fatongia

Mone, an Earthwork Superintendent for Hogan, started in 2011 as a general laborer at Davis School District’s Wasatch Elementary School. As he continued to work as a laborer, he was given more responsibility, such as handling punch list items and eventually becoming the bulldozer operator for the Civil Division and then an earthwork superintendent. Mone now works with Nash Golon, Hogan’s Civil Operations Manager, as an Earthwork Superintendent, responsible for the company’s large earthwork projects, mass excavation, utilities, structural excavation and site grading.

“What helped me grow was staying humble, staying in my lane, and trusting that my hard work would help me through the process.”

Carlos Landaverde

Starting back in 2006 as a general laborer, Carlos, now a superintendent, has developed his skills with Hogan for the past two decades. After working as a general laborer, he become a concrete form setter and then a finish carpenter. He worked closely with Bob Bennion, a Superintendent for Hogan, and eventually became his foreman on several projects. Carlos was then promoted to superintendent and is currently working on the Murray High School Addition, which is ahead of schedule and slated to be completed in the Summer of 2027.

“I had to learn not just the work, but the language too. Take the opportunities you’re given and you will move up if you’re willing to put in the hard work.”

Jake Halverson

Project Foreman Jake Halverson started with Hogan in 2022 as a concrete laborer and worked his way up to a concrete carpenter, with his team lead being Jake Campbell. After about two years, Campbell became a superintendent and called Jake about becoming his foreman. They just finished at the beautiful Roosevelt Elementary School Rebuild and will be working together again on the Weber School District CTE Catalyst Center, at the request of Weber School District’s Facilities Department.

“Be the person you want to work for. If you don’t know how to do something, ask for help and figure out and work harder than anybody that works for you.”
