Celebrating the New Karl G. Maeser Preparatory Academy Auditorium and Fine Arts Building
On September 14th, we celebrated the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the new Mitchell Auditorium and Fine Arts Building at Karl G. Maeser Preparatory Academy. These new spaces will help promote classical arts to students and give them dedicated spaces for music, theater, and visual arts.
Speakers during the evening, including Lindon City Mayor Carolyn Lundberg and Michelle Mitchell, a representative of the Fritz B. Burns Foundation, all touched on the importance of the arts in fostering creativity in young people in the community and giving them a more well-rounded educational experience.
Two current students also spoke about their excitement to have a dedicated space instead of the previously used “cafetorium,” where they would use the cafeteria as a makeshift auditorium.
The new auditorium was opened with a concert by Aubree Oliverson, a violinist who has toured internationally with leading orchestras.
